The first project of Sevenoaks School’s Masterplan is a new Performing Arts Centre, completed in 2010. The Centre contains a concert hall to seat 450 with an orchestra and choir, a recital room for 100, a drama studio, and 24 music and drama teaching spaces. A generous foyer connects music spaces to the school’s theatre. Acoustic considerations underlie every aspect of the building’s design.
The building is made of Douglas Fir, handmade brick and exposed concrete, which give a feeling of warmth and solidity throughout.
