Max Dudler > Reception Building Drägerwerk

Source: Max Dudler

With the new reception building for the Drägerwerk in Lübeck, a three-sided, open to the street space is created, which welcomes visitors with an urban gesture. Two older buildings from different eras of the factory history also surround the square. This small company history in the form of an urbanistic panorama is ingeniously opened by the slight twisting of the new building. The cubature results from the tower-like elevation, which rises from the road-accompanying buildings. The upper building closure of the building is emphasized by a convolution that gives it an expressive crown. These details of the clinker façade make the design recognizable as an interpretation of the architectural tradition of Northern Germany. The large, abstract glass surfaces stand for the future-orientedness of the company, while the rough water-colored tile as a traditional material emphasizes the long company tradition in this location.

The Drägerwerk reception building received the special price detail at the German Ziegelpreis 2017.
