Raamwerk > Wolterslaan house

The existing house served as a single-family home with doctor’s practice and consisted of a long range of switched spaces without mutual relationship or contact with the spacious garden behind it. The challenge was to transform the house back into a quail contemporary single-family home with thoughtful interventions.
The ground floor is stripped to the main volume and extended with a pavilion structure. The new volume distances itself from the current house and from the adjacent building.
This creates a narrow passage between the new volume and the right neighbour, which allows daylight to invade to deep into the main volume. In addition, a view from the main building is created, through the pavilion into the garden. The new layout allows all spaces to be subtly blended apart without losing their ownness
A perforation in the existing ceiling of the main volume creates a second relationship with the higher office and allows the light to enter the house from a higher distance.
The pavilion consists of a rough plinth that can be used inside or outside as a seating element. This features a sleek glass-coopaist that captures the wooden roof structure.
